Lupo Santasilia is a freelance professional hunter based in Arusha, Tanzania. He was born in Zambia in 1974 and grew up between East Africa, Europe, West Africa and Central America. This exposure to different countries and cultures allowed Lupo to become fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Swahili.
In 1987, he and his father came to Tanzania where his father immediately introduced him to hunting and the true wilderness of Africa.
It is here, at the tender age of 11, that Lupo not only found his real passion in hunting and for wildlife but also gained immense knowledge of the bush.
After finishing secondary school in Nairobi, Kenya, he pursued an apprenticeship with legendary hunter Richard Trappe.
After 2 years apprenticing, mostly in Maasailand, Lupo chose to leave Tanzania and further his education in Italy, pursuing a degree in Tropical Livestock Development.
After 4 years in Italy (where he experienced a new found love for food) he returned to Tanzania and opened several restaurants which expanded his culinary passions and helped him gain a strong insight into the hospitality industry leading to additional experience as a consultant for hotels.
During this time however, he continued with his love and adventure for the outdoors leading him back to finish his apprenticeship with Richard Trappe and other professional hunters.
It is at this juncture that he furthered his knowledge and exposure to the different hunting areas and wildlife in Tanzania.
In his 12 year career as a professional hunter for clients from all parts of the globe, Lupo’s extensive knowledge of Tanzania’s wildlife and hunting areas combined with his managerial skills of safari camps, passion for cooking and his ethical and enthusiastic approach to hunting, ensures that all the safaris he conducts exceed expectations.
